Two weeks of stuff to remember. Hrm.
Me and Emilia and Mira started Inktober together on the first. I enjoy doing it with them and seeing their creativity. It's also fun to have an excuse to practice my drawing skills since otherwise I wouldn't do it at all. Doing something every day, even for a short amount of time really does make improvement faster and easier.
This was Mira's on the day the prompt was "blade."
This was my favorite so far. The prompt was "rodent."
On the 28th, Emilia had a CCR at the school that all parents were asked to attend. I didn't know what a CCR was, but apparently it stands for College and Career Readiness. They made her fill out a questionnaire and then had a counselor from the school tell her how great her answers were. It was silly. And I was one of two parents who showed up. They told me to get there 20 minutes before Emilia was allowed to come, so I sat and wasted time in the school library. I get that being aware of your future is important, but it bugged me that they were basically disguising a "get to know you" session as college and career readiness. And asked me to come to it without any other children, which forced Steve to watch Jules for an hour while working.
I am super thankful that our situation allows me to support my kids in these ways though. Obviously there are a lot of parents who don't have that luxury.
Last weekend we had General Conference. It was so appreciated and needed this time around. I always enjoy General Conference, but since we haven't really been able to attend church and be taught in Sunday School and Relief Society, I very much looked forward to being taught by adults for two whole days.
And it didn't disappoint. There were so many uplifting and sustaining talks this time. They are available on youtube if anyone is needing some spiritual hugs.
I love General Conference, but the younger kids especially tend to get bored, so there was a lot of coloring and drawing done over the weekend. Jules really got into it, too. Of course markers are her favorite medium. And when someone doesn't watch her, she usually enjoys using them on herself, the kitchen furniture and anything else that gets in her way.
I was very unhappy with the OB office that I had started using for this pregnancy, so I found a new one and had an appointment on Tuesday. This is my first time seeing a midwife and I loved how personable she was. She even did an impromptu ultrasound to reassure me that things were going well with the pregnancy. My anxiety has skyrocketed since getting pregnant. Changing hormones are not very nice to me. It's more generalized anxiety than specific anxiety about things.
This isn't an awesome picture of me, but I am now 4 months along and starting to have a belly.
This last week hasn't been overly exciting. Emilia had a Young Women's activity. I had a couple of custom covers and a few ebook covers that the authors wanted to turn into paperbacks.
The kids played legos and drew for Inktober.
They watched some TV and played some videogames.
Friday, Mira and Cecily had crazy hair day at school. Mira had BB8 hair and Cecily had rainbow hair.
I also took Jules to Thanksgiving Point's Farm Country on Friday. She loves animals so much. Last time we went, she cried the whole time riding on the ponies. But this time around, she sat on that pony like she was an old cowhand. She had on her serious face the whole time, too. She cracks me up.
When I asked her to smile so I could take a picture, she started waving to everyone standing around the edges of the corral. Hahaha.
Yesterday was a pretty lazy day. Steve and I went on a date to the grocery store. I bought some pumpkins for my front porch. I shopped online for stuff for my business. We made fajitas for dinner. Not in that order at all.
I forgot that today was the last day to watch classes in an online writing conference that I signed up for last month. Every hour I watch, I get 1 point toward my teaching license and I need a LOT of points before June. So I'll be watching a lot of classes today at 1.5x speed. Haha.
