costumes and a fish fiasco

I gave Emilia some choices about what to be for Halloween and the one she picked was a fish. She was very excited about having a fish costume. The picture I showed her was a goldfish costume, but she LOVES the Rainbow Fish stories, so I thought it would be more appropriate for her to be Rainbow Fish. So we went shopping and found some colorful cupcake liners and an oversized hoodie. Then Wednesday night I spent 2-3 hours gluing things together.

This is what it ended up looking like (there were eyes on the top, but she ripped them off). This was the happiest she ever looked in it. She screamed and yelled and tried to rip it off every time I put it on.

She was slightly more happy about this costume that I made in 20 minutes on Thursday afternoon. She was not so happy about all the people dressed in costumes at Steve's work Halloween party Thursday night.

Steve wore his trenchcoat and and a suit, which I thought made him look like a private eye from an old black and white movie, so I dressed up as one of the ladies that would come into his office and plead for help. Emilia was a cat burglar that he caught. She started out with a mask face-painted over her eyes, but that was rubbed off before the pictures.

I told Steve to take a picture of my whole costume. Apparently shoes don't count to a boy. :| Anyway, I liked my costume, but Emilia got scared and rubbed her face on my white skirt, so I couldn't wear it again today.

So I ended up being the cat in her burglar. I guess we're pretty cute together.

New video

This is a little long, but it's so worth watching to the very end! It shows off how cute her talking is, and how she's got incredible self-worth. I hope it sticks around. :)

News

Well, family and friends, for those of you who don't know, I wanted to share the good news that Steve and I are expecting again. I am about 16 weeks along and I am due on the 27th of March (one day after my mom's birthday--she says she doesn't mind sharing). We find out on the 2nd of November what we're having, so I'll keep you posted.

I have been so much more sick with this pregnancy, it has been ridiculous! Thank goodness it's finally going away. I still can't eat most dairy and absolutely NO cows milk--although the lactose-free stuff seems to do fine, so hooray! I love my cereal and milk in the morning. I would be sad if I couldn't have it at all. Emilia doesn't really understand the concept of me being pregnant yet. She heard the baby's heartbeat at my last appointment and when i told her that there was a baby in my tummy, she looked at me like I had lost my marbles. It was pretty funny.

Oh, and on a completely different note, we can't forget the funny things she's said lately:

We were at Nick and Wilda's house the other day and Steve told Emilia that she was cute. She responds, "You're cute, too, Daddy!" Then Steve asked if mommy was cute, and she says, "You cute, Mommy!" Which I, of course, thanked her for. Then Wilda says, "Is grandma cute?" and Emilia thinks seriously and responds, "Umm....not really." I'm sure that was funnier for me than it was for Wilda, but she was very gracious about it.

Lately, if Emilia doesn't know the name of something or can't remember it, she calls it a dooty-way or a tooty-way. For instance, she picked up Steve's scripture case the other morning and says, "Look, I found Daddy's doody-way!" Last night, though, Emilia and I went out to dinner with some friends of my parents. After dinner, the women went to look at some stuff at JoAnn Fabrics and the men went to Sports Authority, which was next door. As my dad and the husband of the couple went into the store, Emilia says, "Grampa and Tooty-way just went into that store!" hahaha

Emilia was running at full speed down the hallway the other day and must have tried to turn into my bedroom (which is at the end of the hall) too quickly because I heard a thud and then wailing. I hurried down to see what was wrong and asked her where it hurt. "My foot!" she cried. So I kissed it and asked if it was better--which usually works for her. Her response was, "No, I think it needs a little more." Then held up her foot for me to kiss it again.

How do people do it?

I'm not sure how people consistently put pictures on their blogs. Maybe the process of getting pictures off of their cameras and onto their blogs is easier than mine. For instance, if they have a smart phone--or they are not obsessed with taking a million pictures of everything. Either way, I'm not good at it. So you get another marathon picture post from me. And as the title says, it's mostly about Emi. :)

I've had to hide all the (non-"color magic") markers in our house for this very reason. Luckily, this was an overhead projector marker and not a sharpie. Phew!

All of the Frohlichs and Clem and Jean Richaus should recognize this outfit. Doesn't she look just like her momma?
Emilia likes helping me make dinner any time it involves flour. Can you see why? This time she decided to just eat it out of the bowl. Yum!
Goofy girl!
Daddy was outside playing basketball shortly after it rained. Emilia and her friend Vivien (who lives upstairs) got a kick out of splashing and seeing their footprints.

I was trying to get a good shot of her to put on the two beautiful baby contests I keep entering her in. This is what I got. A few of them aren't bad. :)

This is what generally happens when Steve puts Emilia to bed at night. Aren't they cute?

Don't ask me why she's naked, or why she had to hold all four balloons at once. I assure you, I have no idea. But I thought it was cute anyway. haha

She's so angelic when she sleeps. I love that girl!
